Year of the Cock final version #1

I think the only pain with working on fun personal projects is your never truly satisfied with your work so you never want to stop messing with it. I like what I have going on at this point but knowing me there will probably be another post with a version 2 soon.

Total time - aprox 5 hours
Medium - pen and ink, corel draw, photoshop.

I have it here modeled on a t shirt as i would ideally place it, because id like to print as big as possible

vector line work practice

Just watched speed racer the other day, and I just had to use Christina Ricci in a piece. (shes like a beautiful alien)
Mainly playing with style and technique in this one, just having fun with some vector lines.
I dont hate the way it came out, but will probably dust it off and make it more finished soon.

Time- 2.5 hours
Medium - corel draw , photoshop

"Many apples will fall in your basket"

This was done last semester in my illustration class as a fortune cookie assignment, my fortune being "many apples will fall in your basket" for those unfamiliar with the time honored tradition of art students graphically depicting random fortune cookie fortunes, its a fun but often frustrating assignment you seem to get at least once a semester.

Wanting to do something a little bit different I decided to create a picture that would have the feeling of a grand morality tale lost to time, in this way you can make up your own story based on what you gleam from the picture.

time - aprox 5 hours
medium - corel draw, photo shop, illustrator

The curious gentleman

just a quick 2 hour piece done for no reason other than to jump start my creative juices, a bit how i feel like at the moment as well

medium- corel draw photoshop

Tentacle Tree W.I.P

This was originally a proposal for an assignment involving our worst nightmares. Unfortunatly the assignment was scrapped for a fortune cookie assignment, however i liked it so much i decided to use it for my vein corps line as well.

still got alot of rendering left,

time - 8 hours
medium - pencil on watercolor paper

would probably make a cool tattoo

Year of the Cock WIP

just a quick little rooster design im working up for a girls t-shirt ,
still have a long way to go on this one. But I like the direction its taking so far.

time - aprox 3 hours
mediums - ink, pencil, photoshop and corel draw.

Astro Jesus WIP

another Vein corps t-shirt design, its Astro Jesus! ... another fun picture made to test my imagination more than anything.

Time - 5 hours
Medium - ink and pencil on watercolor.
still need about 5 more hours of work Id say.

Land of the Blind Tshirt Design

Land of the blind tshirt design I did for my clothing company Vein Corps. the banner reads in latin "Ars Est Celare Artem" roughly it translates to "It is art to conceal art". I cant help but find this relevant in todays art scene especially among t-shirt design.

lots of crazy little details that cant really be seen in this one, for example near the gryphon like creatures at the end the spiral is a replica of our solar system.

time - 12 hours
program - corel draw

hoping to go to the press on this guy soon

Introductions are in order

Hi welcome to my little place on the web where ill be posting all the artwork ive been working on lately as well as new developing pieces.

For those who dont know me my name is Vincent Aceves Im 28 years old and I currently go to Cal State University of Northridge in pursuit of a graphic design degree. I have 8 years experience in the graphic design world both as a hired professional and currently as a free lance designer. I also create t-shirts under my design label Vein corps which is an ever evolving clothing line I am organizing.

I like taking risks with my personal artwork, I find it fun to draw something challenging or a bit bizarre. I guess it can be said my art is a reflection of my self, fun complex and a bit strange.
